The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, has cleared projects, including equipping armoured fighting vehicles used by infantry with night fighting capabilities.
An Ordnance Factory in Medak will undertake the deal worth over Rs. 2,400 crore. The same factory will also manufacture command and control posts for directing artillery fire, at a cost of Rs. 406 crore.
The two projects fall under the category of ‘BUY INDIA’. The upgrade will render the armour fighting vehicles achieve better night fighting capabilities and accuracy.
